May 2009 - Veterinary office completed at Garland and Campbell.

Spring 2008 - Second monument sign completed along with common area improvements at Garland and Sagebrush.

September 2007 – First of two monument signs completed at Garland and Sagebrush under Neighborhood Vitality grant.

Spring of 2007 – Hills HOA shared our neighborhood’s NNO success during presentations at City Manager’s meeting and meeting of Garland Homeowners Coalition.

Summer of 2006 – At HOA request, Verizon moved hub pad off sidewalk at Sagebrush/Garland.

January of 2006 – GP&L installed 5 new streetlights under NVP grant.

May/June of 2006 – Sidewalk and benches installed at pond.

Spring of 2006 – Collaborating with the HOA, Lumbermen’s completed landscaping and irrigation work along Campbell & Blackwood corridor. Sidewalk sections added at Dutch Elm and Water Oak cul-de-sacs.

Fall 2005 – Widening of Garland Road completed by City.

August 2005 – The City Council awarded Neighborhood Vitality Project grant funds to the Hills HOA for new street lights, a sidewalk and benches at the pond, and signage/landscape improvements at Garland & Sagebrush. HOA implemented “Lawns-of-Month” program.

July 2007 – HOA applied for Non-Profit status to save annual August 2007 – Dentist office completed at Garland & Campbell.

June 2007 – HOA hosted first annual Hills Splash Night.

May/June/July 2005 – The HOA collaborated with the City Transportation Dept. and nearby homeowners to improve sightline safety at Blackwood and Campbell by moving retaining walls, fence lines, and the masonry column.

December 2004 – Lumbermen’s turned the HOA over to the neighborhood and the first Board was elected at the transition meeting.

Fall of 2004 – The Hills neighborhood joined with the Oaks at Stoney Creek and the Retreat to impact zoning at the NE and SE corners of Garland and Campbell Roads. With more than 400 petition signatures from residents, the proposed retail/restaurant zoning was moved from the NE corner (nearest the neighborhood) to the SE corner, and limited to 25,000 total square feet.

Spring 2003 (estimated) – The former cul-de-sac at Blackwood and Campbell was built through to Campbell Road establishing a third neighborhood entrance. In 2003, Campbell Road was completed.

August 2001 – First National Night Out held at clubhouse. The NNO celebration has turned into an annual event regularly attended by more than 200 residents, and serving as a model for other neighborhoods.

February/March 1999 – Neighborhood developer Lumbermen’s Inc. established the Hills Homeowner’s Association by filing documents with the state. From 1999 to 2004, 234 homes were built by Drees, Standard-Pacific, and DR Horton. (Note: In 2006, Lumbermen’s became Forestar, a division of Temple-Inland.)
