Apartment Zoning Meeting
As you probably know by now, the apartment zoning at Lookout & Campbell was postponed earlier this week at the request of the developer until the July 15th Council meeting. We have been advised that they are able to do this as many times as they choose. Official notification was not received until mid-afternoon on the day of the Council meeting, and word was disseminated to the neighborhood just as quickly as possible. Thanks to all who came out and were willing to come out -- we'll just have to do it again next time. Much thanks to Jennifer McKelvey of Weeping Willow who has been representing the Hills in sterling fashion during this process, and unsung hero, David McKelvey who has been looking after the family's three young children while Jennifer is occupied with this important neighborhood issue.

Sagebrush Entry Project
The current phase of the entry of North Garland Avenue is essentially finished and we are all just watching the grass grow. Over the next couple of years, there are additional plans to add more landscaping, but our HOA budget for extra projects is completely exhausted for this year. I hope you like the outcome so far as much as the Hills HOA Board does. Our contractor did an excellent job throughout the long and difficult process and was extremely careful not to cut any utility lines -- a huge plus considering that interrupting utility service seems to be a common occurrence during many construction projects these days. We must once again thank Greg Griffin of Spicewood for donating his time and his truck to haul rocks from the project site to the landfill on four separate occasions. Thanks, Greg! A quick thanks also goes out to the Romo and Yohannes families who helped during our last week of rock pick-up duty. In total, our neighbors donated 72 hours to this project, which should make a huge difference in smoothing out the terrain out there.

Pond
Yes -- the pond level is dropping. As passed along earlier, this is by design so that work can be done later in the summer along the south wall in hopes of repairing increasing leakage down the grass slopes beside the waterfall basin. Please have patience. The Swim & Rec Board advises that drying out this area in preparation for future work is essential to help increase the chances of success for the long-term project. That certainly makes sense, so let's all hope for a successful repair project!

Splash Night
While several people helped make this event successful again this year, special recognition goes to Mike and Coetta Lindt and Keri Bennett for getting us set-up and for serving the first round of drinks. Thirty-six pizzas were devoured in all. We could have used just a couple more, but no one went hungry this time.

Trash
With people being outdoors more right now, the recent intense winds, lawn crews, and other factors, there has been quite a bit of trash showing up lately in the Hills. Please take a look around and pick up any that you can -- MOST appreciated. One other note: Bulk trash pick-up is on Wednesdays. If it is possible to plan projects to keep pick-up items off the curbs until closer to pick-up -- that too would be MOST appreciated.

Wallpaper Contractor
We are looking for a wallpaper contractor to do some very minor repair work in our home. If you know of someone who can help, and would not mind a small job this time, please pass along any recommendations ...

That's all that we can think of for now. If we forgot anything, we will pass it along next time.
