National Night Out
First planning meeting, Monday evening, 7:00 p.m. at the
clubhouse.
Anyone and everyone is
welcome to participate and help us organize another great NNO in the
Hills.
Excellent Take-Out Meals (close to
home)
Several residents have
recommended the TAKERY, which is located on North Garland between McAllister's
Deli and Red Robin. In these days of chain restaurants, the TAKERY is locally
owned by Karen Falls, who is a widowed mother, full-time school teacher, and
works close to 90 hours a week between teaching and cooking for her business. In
these tough financial times, the TAKERY is holding on by a thread. For those who
have not tried the TAKERY, I’ve been told that you will be pleasantly surprised
by the quality and flavor. Our family will be stopping by soon for a
“home-cooked meal.” Please join us in supporting a deserving local merchant who
by all accounts offers an excellent product and service.
Fitness Opportunity
Hills Board member, Keri Bennett provided the following
information, which seemed worth sharing with the neighborhood--
"I have been going to a fitness boot camp held
at Breckenridge Park and have had a great experience with it. City Boot Camp is
a great exercise opportunity for all fitness levels. Chris Sider, a trainer from
Allen, is starting another 6-week session on Monday, August 11th. The boot camp
will meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 5:30 to 6:30 a.m. at
Breckenridge Park. The cost is $180 if you choose to do all 3 days, or $120 if
you only choose to do 2 days a week. Make-up classes will be held at the end of
the session in case you have to miss a few. You are welcome to come to the first
session and try it out before you commit. For more information, you can look at
website www.citybootcamp.com. No prior registration is necessary, just show up on the
first day."
